The Abundant Life

Yesterday, we had a post-Thanksgiving dinner at my aunt's house. My grandparents were there with their three daughters with their respective husbands and children, two of my dad's sisters with their families, and my mom's cousin and his wife. Invariably, the conversation turned into recalling which street in Khartoum they lived on back in the day.

Here we were, many members of our family together, full and satisfied from the zighni, molokhiya and maccarona beshamel we had for dinner, nostalgic for the days when our families lived within walking distance of the other. Now, we rely on skype, facebook, long car rides, and transatlantic flights. But it's all worth it when we're together. May God bless us both in times of plenty and in want, in joy and in sadness. Thank you Lord for our abundant life--we give You thanks. +
